TD-SCDMA Upate
October 12, 2007
- Spreadrum, a China-based vendor of wireless communication chip solutions, is reported to have landed orders for TD-SCMDA mobile phones from Chinese ZTE Communications, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily News. Financial terms and further details of the deal were not yet disclosed, though.

- Dopod is hesitant about making foray into the TD-SCDMA market, according to China Business News, citing comments by Dopod CEO Paul Hsu. The dilemma was brought about by the fact that no mobile phone chipset to date has met the prerequisites placed by China Mobile, according to Hsu. The ideal TD-SCDMA chipset, boasting compatibility with both GPRS and GSM standards as well as the ability to seamlessly switch between networks such as EDGE and HSDPA, is not expected to be available until March 2008.
